Why You'll Love This Course
This course goes beyond the mechanics of supervision -- the contract, the tasks, and the troubleshooting, all of which are included here -- and into why you supervise in the first place. Ben Caldwell encourages supervisors to view their role as one that includes much more than teaching clinical skills and monitoring progress. The role of the supervisor is to motivate, inspire, and instill hope. This course doesn’t just show you how to do supervision -- it shows you how to create a good clinician.
Course Description
Supervision is the cornerstone of the apprenticeship model that has been used to craft new mental health professionals for more than 100 years. For new supervisors, the task can be overwhelming. In this course, we review what it takes to supervise well: The work, and the ways of being. Topics include the role of the supervisor, legal and ethical responsibilities of supervisors, models of supervision, troubleshooting (including addressing unethical or incompetent supervisees), the supervision contract, and supervision tasks.
6 Hours CE. Video Format.
